Chairman’s Message

Dear Guests
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the fifth edition of Bandhigga Guulaystayaasha Soomaaliyeed (BGS), a platform dedicated to bringing together leaders, professionals, innovators, and partners to discuss the issues shaping Somalia’s future.

This year, BGS26 focuses on the theme “Towards a Healthier Somalia: Progress, Challenges & Future Pathways.” Health is a fundamental pillar of national development, human dignity, and economic progress. A healthier population creates stronger communities, expands opportunities, and contributes to a more resilient and prosperous Somalia.

While Somalia has made important progress in strengthening its healthcare sector, significant challenges remain. Access to quality and affordable healthcare, the availability of skilled health professionals, sustainable financing, and the development of reliable healthcare infrastructure continue to require collective attention. Addressing these challenges calls for practical solutions, long-term commitment, and stronger collaboration among government institutions, healthcare providers, development partners, the private sector, and local communities.

At Hormuud Telecom, we recognise the importance of collaboration and innovation in supporting Somalia’s development. We believe that meaningful progress is achieved when institutions and individuals work together towards shared national priorities. Through platforms such as BGS, we have an opportunity to exchange knowledge, explore new ideas, strengthen partnerships, and identify pathways towards a more accessible, effective, and sustainable healthcare system.

I hope this year’s conference will inspire constructive dialogue, encourage innovative thinking, and lead to actionable recommendations that contribute to improving healthcare outcomes across Somalia. I also encourage all participants to use this opportunity to build lasting partnerships and support initiatives that respond to the needs of our people.

I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to everyone contributing to BGS26, including our speakers, participants, partners, organisers, and all those working to advance Somalia’s healthcare sector. Your commitment and contributions are essential to building a healthier future for our nation.

Together, let us continue working towards a Somalia where every person has a better opportunity to access quality healthcare and live a healthier, more productive life.
